Community Subscriptions

Set up subscriptions for your District site

Subscriptions let you offer paid tiers to your community so supporters can get perks like exclusive listings, private chat access, subscriber badges, and more.

Where to find Subscriptions

  1. In the left sidebar, click Subscriptions.

  2. You’ll land on the Subscriptions page with two tabs:

    • Tiers (manage your subscription tiers)

    • Subscribers (see who is currently subscribed)

Create a subscription tier

Step 1: Click “Add Tier”

From Subscriptions → Tiers, click Add Tier in the top-right.

This opens the Add Tier panel.

Step 2: Name your tier

In the Add Tier panel:

  • Title: Enter the tier name (example: “Monthly Supporter”)

  • Short description: Add a quick, clear summary of what the Membership means

Choose tier benefits (perks)

In the Benefits section, select what this tier includes:

District-Integrated Benefit Options:

Subscriber Badge (Default)

Shows a badge next to a subscriber’s name in direct messages, channels, and live so other members can recognize their support.

Exclusive Listings

Makes it so the site owner can offer certain listings exclusively to subscribers of this tier.

*note - if this is enabled, site owner will toggle "Subscriber-Only" at the listing level for items they want to be available only to Subscribers. Subscriber-Only listings do still populate on listing and collection pages for public visibility.

Exclusive Chat Channels

Creates private channels for subscribers, so they can chat with you (and other subscribers) in a members-only space.

*note - if this is enabled, site owner will toggle "Subscriber-Only" for applicable chats under the Chat Channels tab.

Reduced Selling Fees

Automatically applies a reduced take rate on transactions for sellers subscribed to this tier.

  • Use the percentage field to set the DISCOUNT rate for this tier. This will be automatically applied to subscribers while their subscription is active; do not manually edit the individual subscriber's fee rate in member management.

Custom Benefit

Want to offer something unique?

  • Click Add Custom Benefit

  • Enter the benefit text you want displayed as part of the tier

  • some examples we have seen:

    • Monthly Coffee Chat

    • Access to our private reseller chat

    • Live Selling offered to subscribers only (permission manually managed by site owner)

    • Wholesale access

Tip: Custom benefits work best when they’re specific (what it is + how they access it).

Set pricing

Under Monthly Price and Yearly Price, enter what you want to charge for this tier.

  • You can offer monthly-only, yearly-only, or both (depending on what you fill in).

  • District charges a 10% platform fee on subscriptions. Standard payment processing fees also apply.

Optional tier settings

Subscriber limit

Under Limits, you can set a cap using Add a limit to the number of subscribers.

Use this if:

  • You’re offering time-based access (limited seats)

  • You want to keep perks manageable (limited DMs, limited private sessions)

For Sellers only*

Check For Sellers only if this tier is meant only for sellers (not general buyers/followers).

*note - if you want total Selling Permission to be gated behind a subscription, please email [email protected] to set up that feature.

Publish your Subscription

After reviewing your tier:

  1. Click Save at the bottom of the tier panel.

Once enabled, the tier will be available for members to subscribe.

On the Tiers table, you’ll see helpful at-a-glance columns like:

  • Status (Inactive vs Active)

  • Perks (how many benefits are included)

  • Members (how many subscribers are currently on the tier)

  • Price (monthly / yearly)

Edit an existing tier

To update a tier:

  1. Go to Subscriptions → Tiers

  2. Click the tier you want to change

  3. Update any of the following:

    • Title or description

    • Benefits (including Reduced Selling Fees %)

    • Monthly/Yearly price

    • Subscriber limits

    • Seller-only restriction

    • Disable / Enable - use this if you want to disable or end a tier, or reinstate a tier that was previously disabled

  4. Click Save to apply changes

View subscribers

To see who is subscribed:

  1. Go to Subscriptions → Subscribers

  2. Review your active subscribers and which tier they’re on

This is the best place to track membership growth and confirm which tiers are performing.

Troubleshooting

My tier shows as “Inactive.” Open the tier and click Enable.

Reduced Selling Fees isn’t applying. Confirm the subscriber is on that tier and the Reduced Selling Fees benefit is checked with a discount percentage set.

I want to offer yearly-only pricing. Leave Monthly Price blank (or unset) and fill in Yearly Price. Subscriptions are subject to a 10% District fee, plus standard payment processing fees.
