# Discounts

Discount codes are a great way to run promotions and reward customers. You can create custom discounts directly from your seller dashboard on web.

### How to Create a Discount Code

#### Steps:

1. Go to your [seller dashboard](https://district.net/dashboard) on web (not available on iOS yet).
2. Tap on “Discounts.”
3. Click "New Discount".
   * Select between "Amount Off Order" or "Free Shipping"
4. Create a unique Discount Code
5. If doing "Amount Off Order", choose between a fixed amount (e.g., $5 off) or a percentage (e.g., 10% off).
6. Set a minimum purchase requirement (optional).
   * Select No minimum or Minimum purchase amount and enter the dollar amount required for the discount to apply.
7. Choose who can use the code.
   * All Customers – Anyone can use the code.
   * Only First-Time Buyers – Limit the code to new customers of yours only.
8. Set any limits for the code.
   * Limit one per customer – Ensures each customer can only use the discount once.
   * Limit total number of uses – Set a maximum number of times the code can be used in total.
   * Add expiry date – Make the discount available for a set time only.
9. Save your discount.

Once saved, your buyers can enter the discount code at checkout to receive the discount.

#### FAQ

**Can I edit a code after I create it?**

* You can edit the settings post-creation. You cannot edit the unique Discount Code or the Value of the Discount after a code has been created.

**Can discounts be applied to Buy Nows, Offers, Live Auctions, and Multi-Day Auctions?**

* Discounts can be applied to Buy Now items and Live Auctions. They cannot be applied to Multi-Day Auctions or Offers.

**Can I create discounts for specific items?**

* Currently, discounts apply to all items.

**Can I deactivate my code even if the total number of uses or expiry date have not yet been reached?**

* Yes, you can access your code in the Discounts dashboard by clicking on it and then select "Deactivate" at the bottom of the edit screen to deactivate a code.

**Can I reactivate a deactivated code?**

* Yes, simply re-access your deactivated code in the Discounts dashboard by clicking on it and then select "Reactivate" at the bottom of the edit screen to reactivate a deactivated code.

**If I add an expiry date, when does that expiration occur?**

* Expiry date is based on your time zone.  For example, if you are in the Eastern time zone and you set your expiry date to 10/01/2025, your code will remain active thru 09/30/2025 at 12:59:59 PM Eastern time.&#x20;

**Can I reuse a deactivated Discount Code for another promotion?**

* No, each Discount Code you create must not match a previously created Discount Code in District's system.
